Zephyr: Eclipse - Fluctus Profit Taker

Zephyr Gameplay Guide

[Zephyr] combines crowd control and situational defensive tools to provide her entire team with great quality of life boosts. Most of her damage comes from specific gimmicks tied to each ability but a good build can pull them off without jumping through too many hoops. The passive provides a free critical chance bonus which can benefit many meta weapons.

📝 Build Overview 📝

Profit Taker usually requires the [Zenith] rifle obtained from login rewards to effectively destroy shield pylons but this build opts to use the Jet Stream augment and a Fluctus arch-gun to do the same thing. This allows you to do fast runs even if you don't have access to the Zenith yet.

🔢 Helminth Options 🔢

Airburst is nearly useless on this build but Tornado and Tail Wind also have issues in The Profit Taker fight. Replace anything but Turbulence.

Eclipse is the strongest buff in comparison to other options. It's also fairly consistent in the Orb Vallis as long as you stay out of dark shadows from the mountains.

Other buffs can be used but they're weak in comparison and can significantly increase the length of the fight when trying to break some of the adaptive shields.

📊 Ability Stats 📊

Strength and Duration get a sizable boost to facilitate your buffs. Efficiency is kept around the baseline and Range is dumped due to mod constraints.

⏲️ Duration ⏲️

Duration is boosted to keep Turbulence and Eclipse up for longer. [Narrow Minded] is usually a downside but it's necessary for you to get hit even when Turbulence is up so that you can consistently proc your arcane enhancements. Additional Duration can be slotted over flex slots.

⛽ Efficiency ⛽

Efficiency is kept at the baseline as you shouldn't need to use any abilities other than Eclipse and Turbulence on their cooldowns. Energizing Dash from the Zenurik focus school should be enough to keep your energy economy in check but if you're having issues replace a flex mod with Streamline.

📏 Range 📏

Range is useless on this build because you shouldn't waste energy crowd controlling enemies. Turbulence won't [Protect] you from most attacks with low Range but you can replace a flex mod with Augur Reach or Stretch if you're not using arcane enhancements for survivability or damage.

💪 Strength 💪

Strength boosts the buffs from Eclipse and [Jet Stream] so it should be the main focus on this build. If you don't have access to powerful Rivens you'll need to rely on Eclipse and your arcane enhancements to do the work for you. [Intensify] and [Vitality] can be replaced with their Umbral variants if you want to squeeze out a bit more Strength in exchange for an Umbral forma.

↔️ Alternate Playstyles ↔️

Most builds utilize tools that can be swapped out to serve the same purpose albeit in a different manner. The following suggestions are an outline and aren't exhaustive.

🔧 Mods 🔧

  • [Aerodynamic] boosts our survivability while airborne and this build spends the majority of the fight jumping to use Exodia Contagion. If you're using a different melee weapon or if you don't think you need the damage reduction then any other aura can be used.
  • [Anchored Glide] provides a small Strength bonus and reduces her passive gravity reduction. Her passive can slow down Exodia Contagion chains so it's actually useful even if you're a veteran Zephyr player. It can be lowered to rank 0 if you want more starting energy as passive reduction is the same at every rank.
  • [Intensify] isn't the optimal option for Strength but it fits into the polarity plan. The Umbral variant can be used but you may need to add an Umbral forma. Blind Rage is stronger but has a significant impact on your energy economy.
  • [Vitality], [Adaptation], and [Primed Sure Footed] keep you alive during the fight but they can be tweaked to your skill level. Magus Elevate and Operator form spam is enough to keep you alive but your reliance on Operator form can actually slow down the mission.
  • [Jet Stream] is necessary for your [Fluctus] to hit shield pylons across the map. Dropping it makes Zephyr essentially useless for this Profit Taker strategy.

⚙️ Arcanes ⚙️

Arcane [Guardian] synergizes with your other survivability tools and Arcane Avenger to balance your offense and defense during the fight. It should be replaced if you're using the higher Range Turbulence strategy. Offensive arcanes like Arcane Precision or Arcane [Rage] are usually the call.

Arcane Avenger synergizes with weapons with low critical chance but high damage like the [Kuva Nukor]. It should be replaced along with Arcane [Guardian] if you're using the higher Range Turbulence strategy to stay alive. Tertiary offensive arcanes like Arcane Velocity or Arcane Acceleration are usually the call.

📋 Final Notes 📋

The Profit Taker is a difficult and precise fight when you're trying to complete it as quickly as possible. Many of the following notes don't fully apply and it's best to watch a speedrun video from one of the many amazing off-meta Profit Taker runners. There's a lot of intricacy that can't be done justice with words.

[Zephyr]'s passive is easy to activate and the game rewards you for constantly jumping around and staying in the air. Enemy accuracy is lowered and your hitbox fits more easily inside the Turbulence shield. The decreased gravity can be annoying to deal with in some tilesets as you can float too high and get stuck against geometry on the ceiling.

Hovering with Tail Wind and aiming with a weapon will cause you to do an aim glide animation that decreases the size of your hitbox. This can make even minimum range Turbulence builds have a consistent chance to redirect projectiles. Doing a slide while hovering has the same effect.

Turbulence has issues redirecting projectiles at extremely low Range values. Anything above 60% should allow you to redirect most attacks but some large rockets will still hit you even when you're at baseline Range. Recommending a Range threshold for every mission would significantly increase the length of this guide so it's best to find a combination of mods that suits your playstyle.

Tornado now holds enemies in a similar manner to other Vortex style crowd control abilities. [Funnel Clouds] can have the same affect by throwing Airburst at the smaller Tornadoes to increase their range and give them the ability to lift enemies. Shooting at multiple overlapping Tornadoes to hit a single enemy is a strong combo that can exponentially multiply your damage. This works against entire groups if you've placed your Tornadoes in chokepoints or if you've manipulated their spawns to be near each other.
