Mirage: Empower/Roar/Dispensary - Legerdemain

Mirage Gameplay Guide

[Mirage] is able to do extremely high damage while crowd controlling any enemies that survive the onslaught. Most of her kit relies on an inconsistent Light mechanic that influences her damage and survivability. The Light mechanic and her subpar defensive tools give her a very high skill ceiling in relation to maximizing her effectiveness.

📝 Build Overview 📝

[Explosive Legerdemain] transforms Sleight of Hand from a reasonable crowd control ability to a powerful nuke. It requires hordes of enemies to drop pickups for it to convert to explosives but once the strategy gets rolling you're able to wipe out enemies the moment that they spawn. This build focuses on utilizes a greedy variant of the typical Legerdemain setup.

🔢 Helminth Options 🔢

Prism is far too expensive on this build and has redundancy with Sleight of Hand. Eclipse and Hall of Mirrors can be used for tertiary offense and defense options but they can be replaced if you have significant energy support.

Empower boosts Sleight of Hand before it's cast and provides more damage per pickup converted. It can be expensive or redundant on builds that spam Sleight of Hand.

Roar boosts the damage of [Explosive Legerdemain] and damage over time effects that it can produce. It's expensive and may need a dedicated energy support frame to assist with keeping it activated.

Dispensary allows [Mirage] to play passively and spam Sleight of Hand without having a significant impact on her energy economy. It may need to be combined with [Equilibrium] to pay for its initial casting cost.

Other abilities are decent but provide a lot of redundancy due to the existence of Operator mode and the previously mentioned abilities.

📊 Ability Stats 📊

Strength and Range are the primary stats at the cost of Efficiency and Duration. These sacrifices shouldn't have a significant impact on most builds.

⏲️ Duration ⏲️

Duration is nearly useless on this build as the explosives from [Explosive Legerdemain] don't scale with Duration and our other abilities aren't important to the build. It can be increased when using subsumed abilities that require higher Duration.

⛽ Efficiency ⛽

Efficiency is unnecessary on this build as we aren't looking to spam Sleight of Hand. Periodic casts should keep most pickups on the field under its effects. Streamline can be used over a flex mod if you're having issues.

📏 Range 📏

Range is necessary for Sleight of Hand to hit every pickup on the map. It can be lowered on smaller tilesets so Stretch, Overextended, and Augur Reach can become flex mods in those scenarios.

💪 Strength 💪

Strength needs heavy investment to make [Explosive Legerdemain] mines lethal to more enemies. Flex mods can be replaced with even more Strength but lowering it can make this build less effective on some missions like Elite Sanctuary Onslaught.

↔️ Alternate Playstyles ↔️

Most builds utilize tools that can be swapped out to serve the same purpose albeit in a different manner. The following suggestions are an outline and aren't exhaustive.

🔧 Mods 🔧

  • [Corrosive Projection] allows you to squeeze out more damage against armored enemies. It's best when paired with a full team using the aura but it can be replaced if you're the only one using it.
  • Power Drift is the weakest source of ability Strength in this setup and can be replaced for additional quality of life.
  • [Overextended], [Stretch], and [Augur Reach] should be swapped in or out depending on the average size of the tileset. Augur Reach is the weakest link and should be the first to be replaced but you lose a bit of survivability from shield gating.
  • [Rolling Guard] is necessary for mitigating high level enemy damage but it can be cut if you're using invisibility or Operator mode invincibility.
  • [Explosive Legerdemain] is necessary for the build to function. This build becomes a far worse of the Prism Disruption variant without it.

⚙️ Arcanes ⚙️

Arcane Energize synergizes with expensive builds and keeps your energy topped off. It can be replaced if you have other strong forms of energy recovery either through abilities or other energy support frames. Offensive arcanes like Arcane Avenger or Arcane [Fury] are usually the call.

Arcane Consequence boosts our movement speed by increasing the distance of our Bullet Jumps and Rolls. It also synergizes with Sleight of Hand as it procs the effect from across the map. It can be replaced if you're playing passively. Tertiary defensive arcanes like Arcane Aegis or Arcane Guardian are usually the call.

📋 Final Notes 📋

Eclipse and Prism have mechanics that are tied to environmental lighting. This system is difficult to quantify in a guide as there are countless small differences in lighting across dozens of tilesets. The user interface can be used to determine whether you're in Light or Shadow but unfortunately it doesn't tell you the exact degree at which you're being affected by either one. Some graphical settings like Classic/Enhanced or Dynamic Lighting can even determine the intensity of the buff. This inconsistency is balanced by each ability having a very high cap in either direction but make your best attempts to stay in appropriate lighting. Invisibility from any source temporarily snapshots your current lighting conditions which you can use to your advantage in areas with less ideal Light or Shadow.

Hall of Mirrors has issues with certain weapons and doesn't give the same damage bonuses or effects in all scenarios. The most consistent weapons are ones with large areas of effect or long range melee attacks. Listing off the exact interactions with each individual weapon would make this guide nearly unreadable.

Prism is powerful but relies on bright light and consistent laser damage to scale properly. There are many ways to do this but a few methods stand out. High Range and large groups of enemies can quickly ramp up the damage and it's the easiest to utilize. When the Prism passes through an enemy it momentarily hits them with every single laser at the same time so throwing it through enemies can work. A popular variant of this is using Void procs to trap the Prism inside a single enemy.
